Feedback from Year 1 Parents

What did you find most interesting/helpful/enjoyable during Thumbs up Thursday?

It’s great to see some of the activities that my child will learn in class 😊

Helping with activities, the children enjoyed seeing their parents in the classroom 😊

The chance to see XXXX in his class with his friends and teachers.

Thumbs up Thursday would be even better if…

Feedback from Year 2 Parents

What did you find most interesting/helpful/enjoyable during Thumbs up Thursday?

I like this thumbs up concept because this is the best way to find out how your kid is doing in the classroom activity and what is the progress or your kid in the term.

Finding out what mu child will be learning about.

Exciting things they are going to learn.

Seeing the classroom, hearing about the terms theme and being able to help XXXX do some tasks.

It was very helpful and interesting to hear what the children will be learning. The Great Fire of London is a great topic and we are looking forward to supporting XXXX at home with this.

Getting to interact with XXXX in a classroom environment. Synopsis of the term’s curriculum. Seeing the classroom set up.

Lovely to see the children’s environment. Great to interact and see how happy the children are.

Finding out what the children will be learning about. Enjoyed being able to sit with XXXX at her desk and talk about her school day.

I found the history of the Great Fire of London interesting XXXX likes history. She had told me all about it. XXXX likes to know everything - some key points for us to help her.

Finding out what the children are learning about. Seeing where my child is sat and who he’s sat with.

The loyalty of the teachers.

All the children were talking about their work and were really proud.

We could find XXXX -  classroom is very nice, informative and children are very comfortable. As a parent I got wonderful experience to explore XXXX’s classroom and see what my child experiences.

I really enjoyed it. It was lovely to see XXXX’s classroom and to sit and spend time just me and him as we don’t get to do that much at home.

Thumbs up Thursday would be even better if…

… it would be better if there is some activity with parents because doing something as some activity in the class with parents makes them feel more confident.

… more than once a month so I can do one with one child then the other a next time.

… more often if possible, especially with more than one child to visit 😊

… a paper copy of the year’s curriculum with ideas for activities that support in-class learning.

… Thumbs up Thursday was useful, informative and fun!

… great as it is!

… if there were a few extra chairs for us oldies 😊

… I am very happy about Thumbs Up.

Great, interactive.

It was helpful and enjoyable.

What the children are learning about.

Interactive – got everyone involved. Really liked her 😊

I liked how much Miss Doyle got everyone involved, encouraged XXXX to answer. Very happy.

It was helpful and enjoyable.

Encouraging the children’s learning is really beneficial for children and parents.

Thumbs up Thursday would be even better if…

… all parents could take a seat next to their child if possible.

… it was well organised. (Visited yr3 and yr4)

… different years on different days so I can go to both children’s classes.

Feedback from Year 5 Parents

What did you find most interesting/helpful/enjoyable during Thumbs up Thursday?

Good to see the environment. Children all engaged and enjoyed the lesson. Staff very encouraging and supportive with the children. Although very relaxed the children were extremely well behaved and staff in control.

Thumbs up Thursday would be even better if…

… Don’t think there is room for much improvement but maybe reminders to parents as a lot had forgotten/not known about it today.

Responses to Feedback

Thank you to all families who were able to provide us with some feedback on our Thumbs Up Thursday event this week. It was lovely to read your comments and we appreciate you for recognising how hard our teachers – and all the staff in the St George’s team – work. We always try do our best, but it is very rewarding to hear your recognition of their efforts. The children had a great morning too!

Here are our responses to improving future events:

Seating:

We will do our best to offer some additional seating. However, we must ensure that all people on site are able to access the classroom and additional furniture can sometimes hinder this. If you would like a seat please mention this to a member of staff and we will do our very best to accommodate.

Regularity:

We will look at reviewing the frequency of our Thumbs Up Thursday events. In the meantime, if you would like to visit another class at the next session please ask a member of staff who will take you to see another child during the session.

Curriculum:

KS1 and KS2 have received a paper copy of the curriculum in their bags today. EYFs have received this earlier in the week.

Reminders:

Thumbs Up Thursday will occur on the 1st Thursday back after each break. We will try to ensure a further reminder goes out on Dojo too 😊

If you missed the opportunity to feedback, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

We hope to see you at the next Thumbs Up Thursday!
