Feedback from Autumn 2 Parent Drop-ins

Feedback from Year Reception Parents

What did you find most interesting/helpful/enjoyable during Thumbs up Thursday?

Seeing XXXX in the school lesson environment and to see him interacting and participating.

I found the most interesting and enjoyable the way we got shown how the children learn and how happy they are in the classroom. They all looked very comfortable and loved watching how they learn different ways.

This is very helpful for our children. I am happy this is a good decision.

It was great to be a fly on the wall and observe what happens in a normal lesson. It was fantastic to see happy children all joining in. Beautiful behaviour, especially as the children have only had half a term at school. And to see all they can do already – I was amazed! Mrs Wardle is doing an amazing job, thank you!

The children were super focused and attentive, lovely to see them so happy learning.

Great teaching techniques.

Thumbs up Thursday would be even better if…

It was longer!

Going around the classroom to see what the children have made and done.

We do more than in our home thank you.

Only thing to improve is the sign in system for parents as the queue is quite long.

No need to make better it was excellent.

If all the kids had the same view of the boards

What did you find most interesting/helpful/enjoyable during Thumbs up Thursday?

To see how the class is set out. See how the children learn and their method of learning and playing.

It was great to see how lessons are structured. The use of recall and do now tasks show how the learning builds their confidence.

Doing activity with my son. Seeing them in school doing activities and how they act and behave.

It was great to see how the children are taught and all the thought and hard work that goes into it. Very interesting! It was fun to do an activity with our children.

Seeing the enthusiasm of the children to answer questions – very impressive from the whole class. Children helping each other on the tables.

Review and explanation of the way maths is taught. Helping my child with the activity.

I found the insight into a ‘normal’ lesson very interesting – thank you!

I liked seeing what XXXX is working towards in her lessons. I enjoyed working with XXXX. We did some team work with the number table and it was nice to see her work and we enjoyed time together in her class.

It’s great time to see all the children having a good time with activities.

I can’t think of any ways to improve the session – it was lovely to see the children in class happy to learn.

Different time slots were offered.

I honestly can’t think of anything. Keep up the good work! Thanks.

I think it is great as it is – we are very lucky to be invited in – thank you!

Feedback from Year 6 Parents

What did you find most interesting/helpful/enjoyable during Thumbs up Thursday?

Mrs Burton highly entertaining and engaging with the children!! Great choice of song. 😊

Everybody getting involved and singing.

Really enjoyed being involved. Music was fab! Mrs B’s class was amazing. 😊

It was so enjoyable to attend with my daughters’ class, not merely a lesson but much happiness and participation. Full of musical information.

It was nice to be involved in the music lesson and seeing all the children really getting stuck in and enjoying it.

Thumbs up Thursday would be even better if…

More parents would attend.

More often, maybe twice a month.

Time was longer.

Nothing.

Responses to Feedback

Thank you to all families who were able to provide us with some feedback on our Thumbs Up Thursday event this week. It was lovely to read your comments and we appreciate you for recognising how hard our teachers – and all the staff in the St George’s team – work. We always try do our best, but it is very rewarding to hear your recognition of their efforts. The children had a great morning too!

Here are our responses to improving future events:

Regularity:

This was also a request from our last Thumbs Up Thursday too. We appreciate how popular this session is and will look at ways we can offer either more sessions or alternative sessions for those with children in more than one class. We are also looking to implement an after-school session where you can come and look at your child/ren’s work they have completed.

In the meantime, if you would like to visit another class at the next Thumbs Up, please ask a member of staff who will take you to see another child during the session.

Signing in System:

Whilst it is important that we have families sign in and out, we also recognise that some entrances were very busy and this caused a delay. We will discuss this at a staff meeting before the next session but would also welcome any suggestions from families too. Please dojo me directly with any ideas. We will aim to implement a change to this once a better solution has been agreed.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback.

If you missed the opportunity to feedback, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

We hope to see you at the next Thumbs Up Thursday!

😊
