Coronavirus - latest update 16.03.2020

We are currently receiving daily updates regarding the coronavirus and where we think that they may be useful we have put details here on our school website.

We have taken a range of actions in school to help prevent the spread of the virus.  These include:

  • Increased hygiene procedures – teaching effective hand washing
  • Teaching children to ‘Catch it, Kill it, Bin it!’
  • More regular hand washing and washing hands for at least 20 seconds
  • Increased cleaning of door handles / stair rails / etc

The most recent guidance is that anyone with a high temperature or a cough should self-isolate for at least 7 days.  If your child is unwell please keep them away from school for this period of time as a minimum.

Some of the children have been very worried about what they see and hear on the news so one of our main tasks is to reassure them.  To do so we are continuing on as normal but have slightly amended some activities  in school which we consider might be higher risk and are keeping everything under review.

The Department for Education coronavirus helpline is available to answer questions about COVID-19 relating to education and children’s social care.  Staff, parents and young people can contact this helpline as follows:

Phone: 0800 046 8687                   Opening hours: 8am to 6pm (Monday to Friday)

We are receiving a high number of calls to the office.  Please refrain from calling with non-essential queries so we can keep the lines free for emergencies.

If we need to update you we will do this through letters, the school website, teachers2parents and Class Dojos.

Many parents still need to sign up to our Class Dojos – please speak to your class teacher if you need log on details.

Please ensure the school has your correct telephone and email contact details so we can reach you.

In the event of any concerns we will; always contact, and act on the advice of, the Local Authority and Public Health England.
